F.A.Q.

Do you take photos of ________?

Generally, as long as that isn’t babies or weddings then the answer is YES!

Describe Your Style or How You Approach Photography

I like lots of light in my images, my photography (especially of pets and live subjects) is often on the higher side of the exposure bracket. I still work very hard to insure that images have good balance and the natural tones of skin and the environment are respected (unless artistic efforts are being made).

With images of nature, non-domesticate animals, or still life, I focus more on the composition of the image and telling a story. I strive to bring out the photo in my mind’s eye that I was seeing as I captured the image.

Despite being quite skilled at Photoshop and image manipulation, I do not make heavy adjustments to the contents of an image (meaning what you see was there in reality). I also strive to use reasonable contrast or color saturation levels in an image to avoid over-saturation or cranking up the contrast slider.

Overall, though, I’m not happy until my client is overjoyed with the images they’ve received!

How much do you charge?

My standard rate for personal photography is $125 per hour. Different packages can be customized for longer or shorter amounts of time and the needs of the particular project.

How soon can I schedule my appointment?

Your schedule takes priority and is most important to me! Tell me when you need me and I’ll do my absolute best to accomodate! I’m accepting bookings for spring and summer 2023.

What are location options for your photo shoots?

Within 20 miles of St. Louis

Generally, I work in and around the St. Louis area within 20 miles of Ballwin (zip code 63011)

I do not currently rent studio space, but that can be arranged as needed for particular projects. I work just as well with artificial light as natural!

Outside 20 miles

For trips outside that range, a travel cost will be assessed and agreed upon and then added to the invoice for services.

Exceptional costs such as air travel or long term bookings require additional fees and booking.

I have a valid passport and am able to travel outside the U.S. and I’m willing to bring the camera!

Reach out if you’re outside of Missouri and we can see what options make sense for everyone!

Can you help with editing or post production?

YES! I’m glad you asked.

Most personal clients want their photos edited or retouched and I usually include a few edited images for all packages of photos (negotiated on an individual basis).

I have used Photoshop and Lightroom exstensively since 2006 and am a highly skilled editor and compositor.

I’m also available to edit photos as a freelance editor. Contact me via my form and let’s talk!

What type of equipment do you use?

My main camera is a Canon 5D Mark IV

I have a wide variety of lenses and don’t have a comprehensive list, but in general I don’t use macro lenses or tilt-shift lenses.

I have a high-grade wide-angle lens and am an experienced Real Estate photographer as well!

I have three external flashes, a Manofrotto tripod, various reflectors and flash accessories, lens filters, and other things I’m forgetting.

For video, I use my iPhone 13 Pro and a Gimbal from DJI to take stabilized video.

If you think there might be a specific hardware need, let me know and I can investigate!

What do you have against weddings and babies?

Weddings:
Emotions run high and I’ve had my fill of the various -zillas that attend weddings

Babies:

Crying and diapers
